Manual therapy
Manual therapy involves special diagnostic and therapeutic procedures used to identify and treat reversible dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system. The focus is on muscles, joints, and their interactions. Special manual techniques are used to localize and analyze a movement disorder, for example, in the joints of the extremities or the spine. This diagnosis serves as the basis for the therapeutic manual techniques performed by the physiotherapist as mobilization. The manual techniques are used both to relieve pain and to mobilize movement restrictions caused by a reversible (reversible) dysfunction of the joint or the muscles associated with that joint (possibly also connective tissue structures, tendons, fascia). The selection of the respective mobilization techniques used by the physiotherapist/osteopath is determined by the diagnosis, the restricted direction of movement, and the shape of the joint.
